DLR Group has named Principal Darrell Stelling, AIA, as the new Global Sector Leader for the firm’s Justice+Civic practice. Stelling, recognized nationally for his expertise in planning and managing large-scale, public sector projects, specializes in detention and corrections projects as well as courts, police, city hall, and other civic facilities.

“Darrell has spent his entire career with DLR Group and is passionate about the ability of design to positively impact outcomes in the Criminal Justice system,” said DLR Group CEO Griff Davenport, AIA. “He facilitated unprecedented growth in this market sector in California over the past decade and is set to lead our team of Justice+Civic experts into the next era of growth and change.”

Recent projects completed under Stelling’s leadership include the award-winning Kings County new Courthouse and jail expansion, Calaveras County Courthouse and Los Angeles County Camp Kilpatrick Juvenile Center. “I’m excited to be working with such a talented group of designers, architects, engineers, and planning specialists who are truly leading the way in changing how we deliver justice and civic facilities to our clients,” said Stelling. “Our former Global Leader, David Boehm, AIA, set the stage for our growth and put together a strong team of experienced professionals primed to take the studio to the next stage of elevating the human experience through design.”
