2017 Higher Education Design Review
2017 was an exciting year for DLR Group’s Higher Education Studio. We added planning and design expertise, including a new Campus Planning Leader to expand our planning services for clients, and I was fortunate to take the helm as the new Global Studio Leader.
Firm acquisitions of Kwan Henmi and Staffelbach enhanced our presence in California and Texas, and added studios in San Francisco and Dallas.
DLR Group higher education design teams worked with collegiate and university clients on projects ranging from studies to significant renovations and newly constructed facilities. Our major project types included: Integrated Campus Master Planning, STEM/STEAM,
Student Life–Dining, Housing, Student Centers, Learning Centers, Active Learning Environments, Health Professions, Arts, and Sports.
In addition to new construction, we focused on the highest and best use of existing facilities. Renovation and repurposing of aged facilities is a rising part of our practice as we assist institutions to revitalize existing structures. Read the highlights in our annual Higher Education Design Review.
With 2017 behind us, we look ahead to great things in 2018. Moving forward, the DLR Group Campus team will leverage firm-wide expertise in all practice areas including Cultural+Performing Arts, Healthcare, Hospitality, Justice+Civic, Sports, and Workplace, to elevate design for all project types that reside on a higher education campus. We’re excited to collaborate with clients to improve the campus experience for students, faculty, staff, business partners, and communities, one project at a time. Thank you for your continued commitment to DLR Group.
