  • What: The Power of Process in Reinventing the School Experience.
District leadership, stakeholder and community input, and expert teams create a road map to guide school district projects to ensure alignment with teaching goals and student engagement. We believe that the school experience is literally preparing children for a world that no longer exists. Here's the good news! We believe a simple refocus is all it takes. We shift our focus from the "what," (what we can afford/what we can't afford), to the "how,” (how do we solve a seemingly intractable problem?). In this workshop we will show you case studies that demonstrate that reinventing the school experience is, in fact, a byproduct of a process that is transformative. You will have an opportunity to experience these processes. Our call to action is to ask you to take these processes back to your district and give them a try. Together we can use the power of the process to reinvent the school experience for our children, for their children... for all of us.

  • What: What Students and Teachers REALLY REALLY WANT in NextGen…and how to help them use it.
Reprising a discussion that began at the 2018 CASH Conference, the teachers are back! Teachers from the field will dialogue about what they really want in facilities, responding to research that drives school design. Next, we’ll hear what students think. Results from qualitative and quantitative assessments shed light on what makes spaces successful, or unsuccessful, and what students really want in education spaces and destination learning centers. Finally, educators are often left with a newly modernized campus and no guidance on how to use it. We’ll hear the journeys of two large districts whose cutting-edge campuses are bringing pedagogical transformation by bridging the gaps between organization, learning, and design.
