- What: The Story of High Speed LEED O+M v4.1.
Jet Propulsion Laboratories (JPL) Pasadena, California campus, with over 100+ buildings, is required to have a minimum of 15 percent of their campus comply with the ‘Guiding Principles for Federal Leadership in High Performance Sustainable Buildings’ as federal contractors to NASA. One of the ways this can be achieved is with LEED rating. However, many of us hear LEED and think of paperwork, even for existing buildings.
DLR Group Building Performance Analysts Penny Cole and Terry Wohlgenant will discuss using the new LEEDv4.1 O+M format with JPL. Our team started with one building, a LEED O+M goal, and a 5-week submittal timeline to see what could be achieved. In this session, attendees will hear specific challenges and successes, as well as how the process allowed JPL to learn things about their buildings and campus that they can take forward. Can LEED O+Mv4.1 help the industry address energy and water use effectively? Is this taking ‘green building’ in the direction needed to address the reputation that has developed in recent years?
