"The best ideas come to me when I have pen in hand, trace paper spooled, and am working with a team representing all disciplines. When all the issues are well communicated and thoroughly comprehended, ideas come quickly and build momentum into exciting possibilities."
Jim approaches his work as a steward of the client's vision for the project, and team members rely on him for the precision and commitment to quality he brings to the design process. He has worked in the Chicago and Seattle offices of DLR Group and earned the reputation of being a talented architect with a passion for design and cultivating relationships.
Jim's agile thinking, design approach, and technical abilities have enabled him to complete work on diverse projects across the country since beginning his career in 1998. His work includes the 3,000-student Metea Valley High School for Indian Prairie School District in suburban Chicago, and the new Garden City High School. He has a deep portfolio of retail work which includes the design for a 184,000 SF expansion to Washington Square Mall. This design strategy saved Macerich investment dollars by calling for a new two-story volume abutting one side of the existing mall in lieu of an originally planned addition of a whole second level. He also was a key member of the design team for planning the Tucson Convention Center Expansion.
