Josh defines integrated design as weaving the fabric of architecture, engineering, and surrounding environment into one seamless piece of art. As a landscape architect, he works closely with design teams to blend the building into the existing context, with as little disruption to the surrounding environment as possible.
“My favorite project is Joplin High School. This is not an ordinary high school; it also serves as a memorial for the Joplin community and those affected by the devastating tornado in 2011. It is a powerful piece of architecture.”
Josh understands the importance of biological and ecological function of native plant habitats and the steps needed if site restoration or remediation is necessary. He’s worked one-on-one with clients regarding on-site stormwater mitigation solutions and has analyzed and recorded site conditions, as well as developed raingarden landscape plans using native plant cultivars. Josh’s experience includes working with city governments and developing presentations and materials for city and neighborhood meetings. He is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
