As one of DLR Group’s Higher Education Leaders, Kate views college and university campuses with their programmatic diversity, infrastructure complexity, eclectic personalities, and synergistic opportunities as a city or community. Because of her diverse background in the arts, architecture, and business, Kate looks at things differently, and brings a multitude of creative ideas and strategies to the table. Her passion for learning and innovation drives research in projected trends, challenges the norm, and explores ideas for cross pollinating secondary education with higher education, and higher education with the world of work.
“I love what I get to do for a living! It keeps me on my toes meeting new people and learning every day.”
Kate is particularly adept at choreographing hands-on learning laboratories and immersive simulation environments for science, medical, and art curriculum. Her strong communication and management skills engage stakeholders and facilitate discussions to build consensus around project visions.
Her experience includes re-purposing campus space for the new Physician’s Assistant program at University of the Pacific, the new Health Occupations building and Science Hall at Southeastern Community College, a tenant-improvement of Saint Catherine University’s Interior Design Suite at International Market Square, the renovation of Daum Residence Hall at University of Iowa, and Benedictine University’s Campus Master Plan.
“My mom once told me, “You have control over the size of your world; it can be as small as you think it to be or just as big as you dream it to be.”
