Design Narrative - Bethel University's commitment to excellence and belief in the power of faith permeates their campus. Their desire to service the whole student - academically, spiritually and bodily led them to prioritize the development of a comprehensive wellness facility for their students. DLR Group's design of the new wellness facility promotes overall well being and supports each student's goals for wellness and fitness. Campus space is limited so balancing circulation and program needs on the tight site required extensive interface between the design team, the user groups and campus administrators to determine a solution that worked for everyone. The dramatic west-facing curtain wall provides functional and aesthetic benefits by incorporating daylighting throughout the facility.

Scope Summary - The new 22,500 square feet wellness center spans three levels and includes 6,000 square foot weight room, 45 cardio machines, 35 yards of indoor turf. The comprehensive facility serves the needs of the bio-kinetics, health services and counseling, as well as the needs of the athletic and recreation departments. DLR Group provided architecture, interior design, mechanical and electrical engineering services.
