Boeing Building 18-26 Refurbishment

Design Achievement - The refurbishment of the 18-26 office building demonstrates Boeing's commitment to sustainability as their first new construction/major renovations project to achieve LEED Gold certification. DLR Group's design reinvigorates an outdated building with substantial daylighting, new energy-efficient systems, inspiring and healthy workspaces, and a redefined identity for the building unique to the business culture of its users. This refurbishment builds on the strengths of two previous renovations performed by DLR Group. By adapting a prototypical office plan to embrace more sustainable design choices, the project takes advantage of the proven success of workplace layout while setting a new benchmark for future sustainable projects.

Scope Summary - The scope of work for the 18-26 refurbishment encompassed exterior and interior renovations of a two-story, 137,000 SF building, including substantial improvements to the building envelope, new landscaping, new mechanical and electrical systems, and a complete renovation of the interior. The project entailed sustainable design to achieve LEED Gold certification. Workspaces include open office areas, management offices, cafe break areas, hotelling stations, privacy rooms, informal huddle spaces, conferencing and video conference spaces. DLR Group provided architecture, interiors, electrical engineering, and sustainable design leadership services.
