Cresthaven Elementary School1234 Cresthaven Drive

Design Achievement – The new Cresthaven Elementary School responds to the District’s goal of providing a 500-student program solidly based in environmental education and technology. DLR Group's design of the school complements its natural surroundings and adjacent residential neighborhood. A transparent, multi-story building invites visitors into the facility and provides extensive views of the wooded site beyond the building. Natural light complements the surroundings while providing heightened visibility to support campus security. The academic learning spaces are separated on the upper and lower floors and are linked by a transparent circulation spine. The administration suite is located adjacent to the main entrance to allow supervision of the entrance vestibule, lobby, bus loop, and student drop-off. The gymnasium, multi-purpose room, and media center have separate entrances for direct access to the athletic fields and parking.
Scope Summary – This new 74,000 SF elementary school serves 500 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade and is master planned for growth. Due to the sloping nature of the site, the building encompasses three stories with the learning spaces located on the top and lower levels, allowing public access to the main level gymnasium and multi-purpose room. The learning environments' transparency and natural setting maximizes sustainable design goals for this LEED Gold school. DLR Group provided planning and architecture services for this project.
DLR Group acquired Sorg Architects in September 2015. Today, the combined design expertise and resources of Sorg and DLR Group serve clients as a global, integrated design firm committed to elevating the human experience through design.
