Design Achievement - The Denver Newspaper Agency building unites business operations for both the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Post. DLR Group's design provides extra-large floor plates to facilitate co-location of symbiotic newsroom and administrative functions. A narrow floor plan and vision glass on all building sides allow daylight to penetrate across the width of the floors. Although the building fulfills the goals and objectives of both current tenants, multiple stair and elevator core locations maximize the building's flexibility to function as a multi-tenant office building in the future. The 11-story building's architecture integrates with the surrounding government and cultural buildings comprising the Civic Center Park location. Unlike any other structure on the site, the design creates a high degree of transparency to connect life and activity inside the building with life and activity outside.
Scope Summary - This project encompassed the design of a new 570,000 SF office building, parking for 660 cars, and site improvements to adjacent street parking areas to integrate the building into the existing downtown context. Spaces include business office environments and newsrooms, amenity/support spaces, exterior balconies and terraces, and a 230-seat auditorium. DLR Group provided architecture and interior design services.
