Design Achievement - FSW is a rapidly growing technology company looking to expand their operations to a second location. In a metropolitan area known for a high density of competitive tech companies, designing the physical space for attraction and retention was a key concern. DLR Group's design responds by structuring the space around key interactions: Client-Facing, Employee Socialization, and Brand Storytelling. Casual, lounge collaboration space and indoor / outdoor connections complement the primary social hub of a high-tech kitchen and stage for communal gatherings. Acknowledging the connective nature of the business, a full 25% of the space is used for Amenity / Socialization, with an additional 15% for collaboration and meeting rooms. The building's past as a warehouse revealed the opportunity for voluminous 18' floor to ceiling heights. Balancing the aesthetic desires of the client with the acoustic needs of the employees, DLR Group identified key areas to take advantage of this volume. The variation of ceiling heights is mirrored by a half level drop in the space, leading to a dynamic flow within the open plan. Throughout, the company's technology identity is reinforced through unique features including a retinal scanner at the Vendor Room and a freestanding immersive touch screen pod.

Scope Summary - The scope of work included programming the 24,000 foot space to accommodate approximately 90 employees. It was important to the client that this new leased space match the refined aesthetic of their nearby existing owned office location, while achieving a lower investment. Therefore, interior material specification was a critical aspect of matching the client's wish list and budget. With eleven wallcoverings in the space, taking design time to coordinate the detailing of switchplates and bases results in a subtle high end cohesion. Vibrant colors coordinated to reinforce the brand are offset by the neutral sealed concrete floor. Desking solutions match existing pieces targeted by the client for reuse. DLR Group provided programming and interior design services.
