Design Achievement – With a reputation for high architectural standards, the developer of Metroplex was interested in helping people realize their dream of better living on the port city of Mumbai. DLR Group responded with a mix-use solution of office, residential, and retail space, with underground parking. Metroplex is located on a prominent site, adjacent to the sea in a developing area of Mumbai. Utilizing colored bars to connect two wings of the glass office building, the design of the commercial portion takes its cues from the fast-paced movement and energy of this global metropolis. Luxury condominiums are planned so that every unit boasts a sea view, while at the same time maintaining an efficient core design. A cluster of two-story residents undulate along the shore line, reflecting the geography of the site and the subtle motion of waves in the western light over the Arabian Sea.

Scope Summary – Metroplex is sited on a 10-acre site on Malad Creek, adjacent to the Malad West area of Mumbai. The development includes nearly one million SF of commercial office space in two, 15-story towers with retail and restaurant opportunities on the lower levels. Two-, three- and four-bedroom residences are distributed between three towers of 30+ stories and a series of two-story residents for a total of 342 units. Landscaped pedestrian paths through the campus connect the various components to tennis and basketball courts. DLR Group provided master planning and schematic design services.
