Design Achievement - For this center located in an affluent neighborhood outside of Minneapolis, owner General  Growth Properties worked with DLR Group to design a vision that will reflect the sophistication of its patrons and give them the upscale experience they expect.  Along with fully remodeling Macy’s and signing Nordstrom as a new anchor, the entries, interior concourses, and central courtyard are fully remodeled. Exterior interventions include entry expansions that pulled the entries out from under dominating concrete bulkheads into tall glass boxes that welcome the patrons by showcasing custom artwork. Sign towers at each of the entries have been given new life with illuminated glass and polished stone panels. Other key areas of the exterior are clad in basalt tiles and a blend of polished and honed Mesabi Black Granite, a stone quarried in Northern Minnesota. New skylights and wood ceiling elements gave life, height and order to dark concourses. Artwork showcased throughout the shopping center now has a new prominence within galleries along the concourses and in the central court.

Scope Summary - DLR Group added approximately 91,500 square feet new mall common area and shop space, renovated approximately 215,000 square feet of interior and exterior common area. DLR provided architectural services.
