His role as a principal in the firm also allows him to be an active mentor, fostering open dialogue and discussion, curiosity, and a continual journey of personal and professional growth for young architects at DLR Group.

“Andrew is a talented team leader who is making an immediate impact on the quality of design thinking in the firm. I’m confident that his experience and connections in the industry will position DLR Group for growth throughout Southern California,” said DLR Group Senior Principal Brett Hobza, AIA.

“I have always been a person who loves to take something apart, figure out how it works, and then put it back together,” said Thompson. “My fascination for understanding how things work and function is the foundation for my successful career in architecture. I firmly believe architecture is more than a strong design concept – it must be technically sound and functional to meet the needs of all users.”

Thompson is committed to continually learning and growing alongside his clients through his participation in the Association for Learning Environments, California Association of School Business Officials, California School Boards Association, and Coalition for Adequate School Housing. He is a graduate of the CASH School Facilities Leadership Academy and a former instructor at the University of California Riverside Extension Program.
