DLR Group Announces New Global Hospitality Leader

DLR Group CEO Griff Davenport, FAIA, announced today that Principal Ed Wilms, AIA, has been named the firm’s new global hospitality leader. Wilms will set the strategic direction for the studio to deliver curated design solutions that align client goals with hotel brand personalities and local environments.

Wilms has 30 years of experience in hospitality, gaming, and entertainment design. Since joining DLR Group in 2009, he has been instrumental in the firm’s ongoing design for expansion and renovations at the Mall of America, including the JW Marriott, and the award-winning Canopy by Hilton Minneapolis Mill District. He also works closely with major flags and boutique brands to deliver hospitality environments that inspire guests.

He has a proven track record of collaborating with hotel owners and developers to create environments that visitors return to again and again,” said Davenport. “I’m confident in his ability to lead our Hospitality Team and position the studio for continued growth.”

Wilms understands the importance of engaging all stakeholders in a highly collaborative design process. He empowers teams to develop design solutions that remain relevant over time, and his strong leadership provides open and effective communication among project team members and clients.

“I’m excited for this opportunity to lead a talented group of designers who are truly changing the hospitality landscape,” said Wilms. “DLR Group is poised for significant growth. We will continue to deliver inspired hospitality design that celebrates local communities and successfully caters to guest demands.”
