New Gallery Tower Opens at Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas
The new Gallery Tower at the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino is the first ground-up hotel to be constructed in downtown Las Vegas in more than 10 years. To accommodate a 495-room expansion, DLR Group’s design solution inserts an 8-story guestroom tower above the existing porte-cochere. The property now offers a total of 1,124 assorted room types, including studios and suites, and three new presidential suites with private balconies.
Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino is situated on two full city blocks between Casino Center Boulevard and North 4th Street, and East Ogden and East Stewart Avenues. DLR Group’s design for the new tower embraces the sophisticated industrial aesthetic of the existing property and infuses iconic elements of nostalgia and art to create a memorable guest experience. Vivid colors in simple geometric patterns define interior spaces. The exterior architecture accentuates the building’s character through the application of a layered façade with a contrasting architectural ribbon that traces the roofline and corners and is illuminated with neon lights.
“DLR Group integrated multiple opportunities for artistic interventions throughout the property. Two long, narrow light wells that inject natural light into the updated arrival area also provide a canvas for geometric murals and augmented reality artwork,” said DLR Group Principal Brian Murch, AIA. “Each floor features an art wall that playfully guides guests between the elevator lobby and guestrooms.”
The 250,000 SF Gallery Tower, which derives its name from the impressive and expansive art collection, opened to guests on September 22, 2020.
