DLR Group Appoints New Justice+Civic leadership
DLR Group recently appointed Erica Loynd, AIA, LEED AP, as the regional Justice+Civic leader for their northwest studios in Seattle, Washington, and Portland, Oregon. Additionally, Principal Lori Coppenrath of Seattle moves into a national justice planner role and will be a resource to all DLR Group offices throughout the U.S. And Principal Dan Sandall takes on the role of national business development leader for the Justice+Civic studio, working out of the Los Angeles office.
“This is a well-deserved honor for Erica as she has been actively involved in leadership both within the firm as well as in various roles with the national AIA Academy of Architecture for Justice,” said Darrell Stelling, Principal and Global Leader of the Justice+Civic studio. Loynd has been with DLR Group for the past 14 years. Her involvement with the AAJ includes most recently the Advisory Group and the Sustainable Justice Committee. “She brings a passion for creating justice facilities that reflect our design ethos to deliver environments that contribute to healing, equity and transformation of individuals and communities.”
Coppenrath has been with DLR Group for 19 years and actively involved in the Justice+Civic forum leadership as a programmer and planner for public safety centers, courts, detention and corrections facilities and support spaces. “The bench-depth of our justice design teams has always been key to our success. Expanding Lori’s reach to this national level is part of that success,” said Stelling. “And Dan has worked in the Justice+Civic world for years and brings a great depth of knowledge as well as a tremendous understanding of the networked industry that make projects happen. He will focus on leading the efforts to capture large-scale new projects throughout the U.S.” Sandall has been with DLR Group for 28 years.
Loynd’s recent work includes the new Tukwila (Washington) Justice Center, and the Skagit County Jail in Mount Vernon, Washington. Coppenrath’s recent planning projects include the Arapahoe County Justice Center Master Plan in Centennial, Colorado, and the Oklahoma Juvenile Authority’s Tecumseh Campus Master Plan, Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
