DLR Group adds K-12 Education Design Talent in Minneapolis
Paul Lawton, AIA, ALEP, joins DLR Group as a principal in the Minneapolis K-12 Education studio to lead project teams serving education clients and communities in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. Lawton brings deep understanding and awareness of the marketplace and nuances of local communities, having spent more than a decade building relationships with school districts across the region.
His experience spans every phase of a project, ranging from pre-referendum and community engagement to design and construction. This broad range of involvement gives him a comprehensive understanding of the complex process and how to build the right team for the best outcome. Lawton also pulls from his experience as a board member for the Educare Foundation - an organization that provides supplemental funding for teacher-initiated programs - as inspiration to infuse flexible spaces within educational environments to support the variety of ways in which students learn.
"Paul's long-standing relationships with school districts and local communities across Minnesota and beyond will result in incredible opportunities for DLR Group. He shares a genuine passion for school design, and we are excited to have him on our team,” said DLR Group Senior Principal Jim French, FAIA.
“I am energized by the challenges of our educational landscape and see every project as an opportunity to connect with clients, listen to their needs, and offer fresh, holistic design solutions,” said Lawton.
Lawton firmly believes that professional development and affiliation are critical for growth in the design industry. In 2018, he became an Accredited Learning Environments Planner, and he is currently a member of the AIA Minnesota chapter.
