New Boutique Hotel Underway at Nebraska Innovation Campus

Construction is officially underway on The Scarlet, a new boutique hotel on the Nebraska Innovation Campus in Lincoln, Neb. DLR Group designed the Marriott Tribute Portfolio property taking cues and inspiration from the surrounding Innovation Campus, University of Nebraska, and the capital city of Lincoln.

The six-story, 154-room hotel is located at the intersection of Transformation Drive and North 21st Street, in the heart of Cornhusker country. It provides lodging options for guests attending corporate meetings and events at the Innovation Campus and nearby businesses, as well as patrons traveling to University of Nebraska’s Devaney Sports Center and Memorial Stadium.

“Sophisticated Midwest charm and the dedication to the people of Nebraska and their unique stories are on display in each guest room at The Scarlet,” said DLR Group Principal Brian Murch. “To capture that essence, DLR Group’s design features a collage of large windows that frame guestrooms like an album of images of the extraordinary people and the individuality they represent inside.”

Amenities include a full-service restaurant, rooftop bar, coffee shop, fitness center, and a private dining area on the top floor. Hands-on learning happens in roughly 2,500 SF of educational space embedded in the hotel, including a test kitchen and dedicated delivery area for students studying hospitality, tourism, and restaurant management. Generally, the guest experience is protected by a separation from back-of-house learning areas, but the two come together in a centralized multi-use space at The Scarlet. During high volume events such as future game weekends, this space will host alumni and community gatherings. During quieter times, it can flex to a classroom environment.

The hotel is scheduled for completion in fall 2021.
