Due to continued efforts to fight the spread of COVID-19 and keep our communities safe and healthy, this year’s SCUP Pacific Conference will now be a virtual event available on-demand. DLR Group will no longer be participating.

DLR Group Principal Amy Hoffman, IIDA, LEED AP.

  • Who: Amy Hoffman, principal, DLR Group; Seher Awan, president, Los Angeles Southwest College.
  • What: Overcoming Food, Clothing, Shelter, and Safety Insecurities to Foster Student Success.
Nearly half of today’s students experience food insecurity, and a growing number face housing insecurity. Campuses must find ways to address their needs. Providing safe spaces on campus to support students facing food, clothing, and shelter insecurities can help support these students through their time in college. From stand-alone programs to a consolidated approach, we will describe multiple tactics to mitigate insecurities plaguing students, including the programming and design of a student services building.
  • Where: Virtual conference, information TBA
  • When: Thursday, April 2 from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM

DLR Group Principal Jackie Eckhardt, AIA, LEED AP BD+C.

  • Who: Jackie Eckhardt, principal, DLR Group; Kristine Kenney, university landscape architect and director of campus design & planning, University of Washington; Dave Hunt, president, GH Hunt & Associates.
  • What: Fostering Campus Conversations Through Art, Engagement, and Diversity.
Public art, events, and projects on campuses have the ability to promote a positive social climate, activate learning, and provide key resources for an inclusive academic community. We will explore art on campus as a core planning and design issue and demonstrate how to hold campus conversations that promote free expression. Art has the power to provoke thought, stimulate the imagination, offer beauty, and spark conversation. In this session, you will learn how to embrace current trends and leverage art as a critical resource on your campus.
