AIA, LEED Green Assoc.
“As a designer, I have a fundamental need to build something that will outlive me. Throughout my career, that fundamental need has grown into a deep love for the art and science necessary to produce beautiful, complex, and iconic built environments.”
Gary’s passion for design began very early on. As a young boy, he would often visit his father at work, and while there, would be given a blank sheet of paper and colored pencils and directed to draw various buildings, which his father would then critique. Today, he is a licensed architect and has designed environments for multiple sectors, including banking, corporate, mission critical, multifamily, and retail. In his role as a DLR Group client leader, Gary partners with design teams to expand the firm’s reach and grow its Workplace brand in the core and shell sector.
“In the U.S., we spend almost one third of our lives in the workplace. A well-designed office building and its interior environment is not only crucial for tenant health, safety and welfare, but can also contribute to a thriving workforce, and positively impact local enterprises and economies. I get a lot of personal fulfillment and satisfaction knowing I’ve contributed to such prosperity.”
As a LEED-certified professional, Gary embraces the sustainable design process. He is accredited in LEED v4, a program designed to improve green building practices and encourage projects to invest in sustainable design solutions. Gary is actively involved in industry organizations including the American Institute of Architects, Bisnow Dallas, and the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors. He previously collaborated with the Urban Land Institute on a case study of one of his projects exploring redevelopment of a critical block in the Dallas Central Business District.
