Irene is the Higher Education Studio Leader in northern California and is responsible for collaborating with design teams to expand DLR Group’s higher education practice across the Bay Area and the upper region of the state. She is well-versed in guiding teams of designers and institutional stakeholders to create solutions that sustain new educational models, and enhance the student, faculty, and end-user experience. Irene specializes in the planning and design of academic environments, biomedical research buildings, and science and technology facilities for colleges and universities throughout California.

Irene maintains an active role in the design and education industries. She is chair of AIA San Francisco’s Committee on Architecture for Education, a group of architects, allied professionals, learners, educators, and administrators focused on learning environments’ best practices. She is also a member of the Society for College and University Planning and the AIA San Francisco Board of Directors, and has served as a studio critique and guest lecturer for community college programs in the San Francisco Bay Area.
