As a senior member of the firm's New York studio, Jana leads integrated design teams serving school districts and communities across New York and the upper east coast. Her passion for school design stems from her experience as a parent of two students. She saw first-hand the impact of a traditional school experience on learners and vowed to make a change. Today, she challenges her clients to embrace innovative learning environments that allow students to demonstrate their creative thinking and participate in projects based on their interests.
“By creating educational environments that allow learners to explore, discover, fail, and recover, I am helping them to understand who they are and who they want to be. This experience unlocks the door to their potential.”
Jana is a champion of integrated design and an advocate for investing project dollars in sustainable strategies and systems that have the longest life and greatest impact on health, comfort, and wellbeing. Her teams effectively utilize performance analysis to inform early design decisions that ensure optimal environments, reduce energy usage, and minimize project costs.
She is currently serving as Vice Chair of the United States Green Building Council's Massachusetts chapter, and is an industry expert on the advisory board for the Boston Arts Academy design and visual communications career and technical education program. She also participates in the Boston Society of Architects Committee on the Environment.
