Jill Maltby
“Supporting a lens where we see everything, not just the polished deliverable, as worthy of sharing is crucial to bringing others into a design story. The more people who can get on board with the story, the better – regardless of the project phase.”

Jill is a designer and WELL accredited professional who brings her passion for human health and wellbeing to every project. An avid note taker, she believes it’s possible to craft a design story out of almost anywhere. Whether from an instant message or text conversation, on a sticky note or yellow notepad, Jill collects insights that allow her to understand a client’s story, and deliver a solution that brings the story to life.

“Some of most important elements of bringing a design to life are the materials we select to formalize our design. The materials we engage with have an environmental and human health impact, and it’s vital to be mindful of the far-reaching impacts our material decisions will have.”

Jill primarily focuses on design for the firm’s Retail/Mixed Use and Workplace studios. She is a steward of well thought-out material selection, advocating for the use of carbon-conscious products that balance building performance standards with environmental and human health requirements. Jill co-edits STEP, an internal e-zine for DLR Group employees, which is a product of one of the firm’s professional development grants. The e-zine works to connect DLR Group studios by showcasing the firm’s global work and design culture.
