“As a mechanical engineer, my ultimate goal is to help people be comfortable. Being able to walk into a building where I have contributed to the design and see people enjoy the space solidifies all the hard work I put in.”
As part of the team tasked with updating Mt. Vernon’s building systems, she broadened her knowledge of historic preservation, and how new technology can be utilized. Crawling through walls built by the first president of the United States was an eye-opening experience for Kirsten.
She continued to sharpen her historic preservation skills when she worked on the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. This project brought a 100-year-old building back to life and gave it new purpose.
