“I spearhead the integrated design process for our projects, because they always start with the site.”
Lana is an accomplished civil engineer and site planner who brings over two decades of experience in public and private sector development to her project teams. Her expertise includes site selection, evaluation, and planning. Development of site plans includes grading and earthwork requirements, utility connections and coordination, vehicle and pedestrian circulation strategies for site safety, and stormwater management design (including low-impact strategies, detention/ retention calculations, and water quality implementation).
Lana has a dual education in architecture and engineering. This background allows her to work more collaboratively with her colleagues, understanding the design process from several perspectives instead of from one disciplinary viewpoint. Over the years, Lana has also developed an extensive knowledge base on the design of athletic fields, including the implementation of synthetic turf fields. Clients benefit from Lana’s ability to walk through due-diligence requirements and jurisdictional permitting requirements for a project.
"I truly enjoy collaborating with my DLR Group colleagues to find the best solution for a project: one that utilizes the site to maximize opportunities but is also environmentally responsible and efficient.”
Lana has significantly impacted the built environment for Omaha residents through her work on the Hyatt Place Omaha, Century Link Center, Aksarben Village, the South Omaha Library, and for multiple schools across the city. One her most memorable recent projects was the site plan development for Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals – Omaha Campus. Several locations were considered for this project, and Lana helped the client determine the best site possible to meet their project goals. The final location was chosen due to its sweeping natural views and abundant daylight, providing a positive and stimulating environment for recovering patients and their families. Lana’s role set the stage for hospital staff to provide the best care possible for their patients by creating an environment that promotes both the physical and mental aspects of recovery.
