Steve has practiced his architecture career primarily in Chicago with a passion and focus on higher education projects. His experience includes academic buildings, student housing, and campus master planning, in addition to several multi-family residential master plans and buildings. He divides his time between business development and project design and management.
“I love what I call the design journey – working with clients and colleagues, exploring ideas, comparing alternatives, identifying the concept with the most promise; and then developing it, documenting it, building it. Each time we embark on a new design journey, it requires us to call on everything we know about the art of building, but also about history, geology, geography, physics, psychology, sociology – the list goes on.”
In addition to his daily work, you can find Steve working as Chairman of the ACE Mentor program in Chicago that shows high school students what it is like to work in the building industry. He also serves on his parish’s Buildings and Grounds Committee, and stewards a campus with five Gothic Revival buildings from the 1920s and 1930s in need of constant maintenance and repair.
“Our firm's promise is to elevate the human experience through design. We work at this one day at a time, bit by bit. These design journeys require a lot of mutual patience and faith between our clients, their communities, and our design team.”
