Design Achievement - CHI Health Center Omaha was one of the first contiguous convention center/arenas in the country setting a trend soon followed by other medium-sized metropolitan areas. A large exhibition hall, ballroom, meeting rooms, and plentiful pre-function space allow CHI Health Center Omaha to host events ranging from business conferences and expositions to hockey and basketball games to concerts. The new facility can accommodate larger seating capacities for NCAA Championships and premier concert events. Currently, the arena is home to Creighton University’s men’s basketball team, and the United States Olympic Team Swimming Trials.
Scope Summary - CHI Health Center seats 18,000 for basketball, volleyball, hockey, and concerts. This includes 32 private suites and 1,200 club seats with private lounges. The arena floor is contiguous to the convention center and includes a 194,000-SF exhibit hall, 31,000-SF grand ballroom, and a 720-foot-long exhibit hall lobby and pre-function space. DLR Group has completed several expansions and renovation studies and projects since the arena opened in 2003, including a connection of the upper seating from a “u” shape to a full 360-degree seating bowl allowing fans to move about the arena freely and maintain an open feeling of the main concourse gathering areas. In addition, upgrades have been made to concessions, locker rooms, concourses and the premium hospitality club as demands have evolved and sponsorship agreements have changed over time. Club lounge and food service areas were also renovated. DLR Group's design encourages arena guests to explore new, modernized concession options and enjoy an upgraded club lounge experience. DLR Group provided master planning, architecture, and interior design services.
