Chase Tower2200 Ross Avenue
Dallas, TX 75201
Design Achievement – Design Achievement - Built in 1987, the Chase Tower in Dallas is one of the city’s tallest skyscrapers. Known for its distinctive curved glass top and keyhole that passes through the top’s center, the 55-story postmodern Tower underwent a modern interior rebranding in 2015. DLR Group|Staffelbach’s design creates a symbiotic relationship between classic and modern design elements by maintaining the unique granite flooring and bringing light into the previously dark main lobby. Modern furniture in the newly lit and bright entry replaces the formerly dark, brass-clad space while paying respect to the iconic building’s architecture. A new executive conference center and lounge on the 40th floor is an impressive use of space highlighted by custom designed LED pendant fixtures and high-tech conferencing technologies. Parking level entrances include new, custom graphics packages to welcome and guide tenants and visitors. The adjacent domed structure turned fitness center has a bright, fun design to encourage high energy and fitness, accented by 360-degree views. More calming, neutral tones and materials of wood and stone for the locker rooms and spa area provide a respite from the energetic workout environment.
Scope Summary – The scope of this renovation included redesign of the entry lobby, mezzanine, 40th floor executive conference center and lounge, sky lobby, and fitness center. Transcendent custom pendants were added above the escalators as a unique and dramatic lighting solution. Modern furniture was specified to counter-balance the structure’s 1980s bones. Designers also remodeled the mezzanine into an open area of working spaces anchored by a coffee shop; the sky lobby from an aquatic garden to a planted garden; the parking garage entrances to be more aesthetic; and a separate, underutilized rotunda into a stunning, fully equipped fitness center with subterranean locker room and spa.
