Design Achievement - Responding to the client’s wish for a “workplace overhaul”, this legal office environment focuses on the employee and customer experience, and takes a renewed look at how physical space can respond to and support the changing practice of law. Primary drivers for the project included improved connectivity, a superior work process, enhanced collaboration, and greater transparency and access to daylight throughout. The new space maximizes real estate efficiency by creating fungible building blocks and standardizing the typical private office for flexibility in practice group and team configuration. A reduction in private office square footage results in more space dedicated to common area amenities. The new environment is characterized by an amazing filtration of daylight, generous passage ways, and open corners with a view to the city skyline. In contrast to their previous office environment, a lighter palette of core materials is infused with selected wood species and strategically placed specialty finishes and details. Progressive workplace elements and amenities are implemented throughout making the environment “leading edge” for the legal industry.
Scope Summary - After 25 years, Fox Rothschild (formerly Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly) relocated their 96,000 SF Minneapolis office to four floors in a Class A property within the central business district. The program includes three practice floors, housing a mix of private offices and workstations all inked via a communication stair to a destination floor that is home to the reception area, consolidated conference center, employee break room and legal operations functions. DLR Group provided programming, space planning and full interior design services – including furniture selection and specification – for this project.
