Design Achievement – Home to the New York Yankees during spring training and the Yankees' Florida State League team during the year, Legends Field has the grandeur of a big-league stadium without forfeiting intimacy. The design of the stadium recalls features of the historic Yankee Stadium including the famous arched frieze originally found on the sun canopy at Yankee Stadium. The field geometry replicates that of the older stadium. Vertical in design with a raised concourse, a high-shade canopy and large-scale graphics, the field offers a high-impact image for the stadium and site size.

Scope Summary – The scope for this project was a full modernization of the 10,200-seat stadium including the full press and broadcast facilities, six concession stands, two beer gardens, and spirit store. Twelve luxury suites offer indoor and outdoor seating and featured amenities include a home team clubhouse, a weight room, a hydrotherapy room, locker rooms, covered batting cages, and two practice fields. Accommodations were also made for the staff of the New York Yankees and the Florida State League team. A pedestrian bridge over the highway provides access to the facility from a nearby parking lot, while the entry plaza, designed around a canopy of 70-foot grand oaks, provides shade from the Florida sun. DLR Group provided planning and architecture services for this project.
