Design Achievement - St. Catherine University's Interior Design Studio, at International Market Square Design Center, provides faculty with spatial flexibility, versatile instruction delivery, and collaboration space to develop intelligent, creative, business savvy thinkers for the future design industry. DLR Group's multi-functional design of modern forms and a clean palette to showcase students work, juxtaposes with the original 1904 masonry and steel building (on National Register of Historic Places). East to west orientation within the suite allows daylight to flood the design studios and collaboration area; 360 degree pivot walls between the spaces spin to improve student's presentation experience, and open turning the space into a large exhibition gallery. Studio and collaboration area walls wrapped with both magnetic and dry-erase marker film create a 180 degree learning environment for sketching/writing, pinup, and projection. "The space is quickly becoming known as the best instructional and learning environment in all of St. Kate's," says Justin Wilwerding, ID Program Director.
