Design Achievement - When the University of Oregon decided to resurrect its baseball program after a 30-year absence from competition, DLR Group was selected to design a stadium that would continue the University's commitment to top athletic facilities. A site was selected adjacent to the famed Autzen Stadium football complex. While this provided a high profile location, it also proved to be a challenge for designers who wanted to ensure that PK Park would stand alone with its own signature presence on campus. The solution was to maximize vertical elements and natural materials to create a sense of place. Stylistically, the facility reflects the culture of athletics at the University of Oregon and provides an aesthetic that is particular to the game of baseball in the Pacific Northwest region. A steep seating bowl gives fans the feeling of being on top of play and vertical banner elements along the concourse add an energetic game-day atmosphere.

Scope Summary - PK Park features 3,000 fixed seats with a total capacity of 4,000 fans. A picnic plaza and the Fowl Territory Party Plaza add to the fan experience. Press facilities and eight suites are included in the design on the upper level and are shielded by a rain canopy that covers most of the seating. A synthetic turf playing field keeps the field ready during Eugene's frequent frequent rain showers. A 19,320 SF player development area includes locker rooms and a player lounge. DLR Group provided architecture and interior design services.
