Design Achievement - After an internal analysis of its emergency services and facility needs, the City of Woodbury Public Safety Building was deemed inefficient, cramped, disjointed, and limited in options for expansion. DLR Group's design team showed the City how they could consolidate their existing, inefficient additions into one cohesive facility. Removing the older, inefficient portions of the building and reconstructing them with newer, better-planned spaces resulted in improved work flow and space utilization. A new training room, enlarged employee fitness area, and natural daylighting throughout make a more enjoyable work space for City staff. A new enclosed parking facility allows patrol cars with expensive technology components to be stored in a heated environment, protected from the elements.

Scope Summary - The work entailed extensive renovation and a 41,000 SF infill addition to the Public Safety campus connecting police, fire, and emergency medical services. An addition providing a multi-use training room for up to 100 people lies over a new below-grade parking garage for 60 vehicles. A new geothermal HVAC system and 100 percent daylighting support the City's sustainability goals. DLR Group provided architecture and interior design services.
