Design Achievement – Flexibility is one of the major design considerations as the agency is rapidly evolving in terms of technology and scope. The facility is designed to accommodate future expansion with minimal disruption. Kwan Henmi worked with the system integrator to develop the phasing plan for migration and cutover of existing systems to ensure continuity of service during the move-in process.

Scope Summary - With an engineering team, Kwan Henmi assisted the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) to design a 40, 000 sf state-of-the-art Transit Management Center capable of supporting current and future needs for a 30-year projection. Scope included programming and master planning to bring together the various mechanical aspects of operations to consolidate them into one center. By bringing these systems together, it streamlines the SFMTA’s operational team and transportation management. The project includes a 1.7mile extension of the subway system from AT&T Park into the Financial District and Chinatown, currently one of the heaviest traveled bus routes in the city. DLR Group|Kwan Henmi provided programming, and master planning design services.
