  • Unlocking Innovation: Get Your Permission Slip to Design Boldly
    October 30, 10:45 AM – 12:15 PM
Too often, bold, innovative ideas in school design get watered down or abandoned before they even make it past the blueprint stage. The root cause? Fear. Fear of stakeholder pushback, budget constraints, breaking from tradition, or simply the fear of failure. These concerns stifle creativity and limit the potential for transformative learning environments. This session provides the permission slip you didn’t know you needed—the confidence to think bigger, take calculated risks, and challenge the status quo in educational facility design.
  • The Show Must Go On: Leveraging the Arts to Elevate and Sustain Learning Across all Subjects
    October 31, 9:45 AM  – 10:45 AM
The explosion of professions rooted in the arts now ranges from Animation and Visual Effects to Digital Media, the User Experience & Interaction Design, and beyond. Instead of isolating the arts in one area of a school, what if we integrated arts programs with core Academics to maximize collaboration and elevate learning across all programs?  What if arts programs weren’t considered electives but part of the core academics? And what if we started this approach with middle level scholars? Join us as we share the story of Nevada’s Clark County School District, an institution that was bold enough to tackle these questions.
  • Designing for Success: How K-12 Learning Environments Foster Soft Skills for the Workplace
    October 31, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Current and future workplaces demand critical thinking, adaptability, collaboration, and emotional intelligence – skills that must be intentionally developed through school design. This session explores how learning environments can be strategically designed to nurture soft skills that prepare students for higher education and professional settings.
  • New Horizons at 18°20′N 64°44′W
    November 1, 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM
The United Sates Virgin Islands is leveraging unique opportunities afforded by FEMA funding for prudent replacement of public buildings post Maria/Irma hurricanes, with a vision to transform the educational experience for all. Leave the session with an understanding of how the impact of place can enhance a design solution, considering all elements of a site to the natural beauty of the surroundings. Also hear new and proven ideas to achieve resilient, high-performing schools in any environment.
