DLR Group to Present at CCFC 32nd Annual Conference

Community College Facility Coalition’s Annual Conference brings together professionals from across the state who are involved in the planning, development, and management of community college facilities. It serves as a platform for sharing knowledge, exploring new ideas, and fostering collaboration among educators, administrators, architects, and industry experts.

  • Building Tomorrow’s Workforce: Innovative Facility Strategies at RCCD & SBCCD
    Thursday, November 6 | 10:45 to 11:45 AM
Principal and Higher Education Leader Leigh Anne Jones, AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Discover how Riverside Community College District and San Bernardino Community College District are advancing workforce development through innovative, technology-driven educational facilities. This session will spotlight RCCD’s upcoming Integrated Education and Technical Training Center, SBCCD’s new Technical Education Building, and the planned Innovation Hub. Funded by $954M (RCCD Measure CC) and $470M (SBCCD) bond programs, these projects demonstrate how strategic master planning and community investment are transforming education into hands-on, “living laboratory” environments that prepare students for high-demand careers while addressing regional poverty.

Attendees will gain practical insights into resilient campus design, inclusive stakeholder collaboration, and strategies for creating future-ready learning environments.

Leigh Anne will be accompanied by Farrah Farzaneh, executive director, facilities planning, sustainability & construction at SBCCD, Hussain Agah, associate vice chancellor, facilities planning & development, RCCD, and Jeff Bowling, program manager at AECOM.

  • My Aging Athletic Facilities: From Bond Passage to Built – Planning and Delivering a Winning Project
    Thursday November 6 | 2:30 to 3:30 PM
Principal and Sports Leader Arash Izadi, PLA, LEED AP BD+C
With more than 200 education bonds recently approved in California, districts have a unique opportunity to transform campuses. Athletic facilities are often first in line – essential to student life, recruitment, and community pride, yet frequently outdated. How do you deliver high-impact projects under tight budgets and public scrutiny.

This session provides a step-by-step roadmap with insights from facilities leaders, athletics staff, program managers, and architects. Attendees will learn how to validate plans and budgets, choose the right delivery method, engage stakeholders and communities, and manage construction risks to achieve successful outcomes.

Arash will be accompanied by Randy Totorp, dean of kinesiology, public health & athletics at Long Beach Community College District, Pablo Manzo, associate vice chancellor at Los Rios Community College District, and Michael Boomsma, senior vice president at Cordoba.
