Join our team at the upcoming International Council for Arts Deans Annual Conference in Santa Fe, N.M. Principal and Global Design Leader Dennis Bree, AIA, LEED AP, will lead a roundtable discussion titled, “From Classroom to Backlot: Rethinking Film Education in a Decentralized Industry.”

As the entertainment industry expands beyond traditional hubs like Hollywood and New York, college campuses are rethinking their film studies and production programs to meet growing regional demand. With studios like Netflix and Paramount opening production facilities in states such as New Mexico, Montana, and Texas, institutions are integrating hands-on courses in cinematography, sound design, commercial music, visual effects, and production management, while also embracing local storytelling and Indigenous cinema.

This roundtable discussion will explore how universities are adapting to the shifting landscape of the entertainment industry through updated curricula, studio partnerships, and immersive student experiences. It will also examine what these changes mean for the future of film education as production continues to decentralize across the country.

The discussion will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 11:30 AM – 12:55 PM.

Optional programs with separate registration fees will be offered on Oct. 13, 14, and 17.
