Canadian County Courthouse Groundbreaking Celebrates Tradition and Modern, Purpose-Driven Design

(El Reno, Okla., Feb. 9, 2026) – Canadian County officials, alongside project partners MA+ Architecture, DLR Group, and Lingo Construction, celebrated the official groundbreaking of the new Canadian County Courthouse, a civic investment that will anchor downtown El Reno and prepare for the community’s future.

The four-story, 115,195-SF courthouse will serve as a timeless, efficient, and accessible center for county services, thoughtfully designed to support long-term growth. The project blends historically inspired architecture with advanced court technology, low maintenance materials, and flexible infrastructure that will accommodate emerging needs.

The project represents transparent stewardship and strategic investment. Designers have incorporated reclaimed bricks, the statue of Lady Justice and original clock from the historic courthouse, and a repurposed judge’s bench from the existing courthouse into the new building, ensuring community heritage remains at the heart of the design.

“We are proud to help deliver a courthouse that feels unmistakably ‘Canadian County,” said Gary Armbruster, principal architect at MA+ Architecture. “It’s timeless in its civic presence, highly functional for daily operations, and rooted in a community presence through the thoughtful reuse of historic elements. This is a building designed to welcome the public and work as hard as the people it serves.”

Construction will be led by Lingo Construction, with courthouse planning and design delivered by MA+ Architecture in collaboration with DLR Group. The integrated architectural, engineering, and court technology teams emphasized design excellence, durability, and user centered experiences.

The courthouse is anticipated to open in mid-2027, providing seven courtrooms and consolidated services to support Canadian County’s growing population.
