DLR Group’s Design for new Center for Human Performance + Kinesiology Breaks Ground
(Norco, Calif., August 21, 2025) – Riverside Community College District, in partnership with DLR Group, has broken ground on its new Center for Human Performance and Kinesiology at Norco College. This marks the first new structure funded in part by the District’s Measure CC that was approved by voters last November. The new center is planned specifically for the benefit of the College, its students, and the broader community, as outlined in the institution’s Educational and Facilities Master Plans.
The new center is strategically located at the edge of Norco College’s campus at 2001 Third St, serving as a vital link between the upper and lower campus zones. The building’s placement and design foster a seamless connection between academic and athletic life, while also welcoming the surrounding community to participate in events and wellness activities.

The 56,000-SF, two-story facility will include a 13,600-SF gymnasium, weight room, locker rooms, wellness and exercise studios, athletic department offices, and equipment storage. Designed to be photovoltaic-ready and pursuing LEED certification, the building incorporates high-performance glazing and a low glazing-to-wall ratio to enhance energy efficiency.
DLR Group is providing architecture, engineering, interiors, and high-performance design services. The project is expected to be completed in August 2027.
Riverside Community College District and DLR Group have also partnered on a new Library Learning Resource Center & Student Services at Norco College. Schematic design is underway.
