Destination by Hyatt to Debut with Okhissa Lake Lodge in 2028
(Chicago, Feb., 25, 2026) – Hyatt and the Scenic Rivers Development Alliance have announced the planned debut of Okhissa Lake Lodge as the first Destination by Hyatt brand hotel in Mississippi. Designed by DLR Group in partnership with WBA Architecture, Okhissa Lake Lodge is envisioned as a retreat and conference center that captures the essence of outdoor and recreational living in the South.
Inviting guests to experience 190,000 acres of the Homochitto National Forest in Mississippi, the lodge will feature one-of-a-kind outdoor programming, amenities, and dynamic culinary offerings. When complete, the property will provide a 200-room lodge including cabin suites, a 1,000-person conference center, swimming pool and hot tub, relaxing spa, restaurants, as well as a boardwalk overlooking the marina.
DLR Group’s design carefully frames the forest and lake, creating an ever-present visual connection to nature throughout the lodge. Even indoors, guests experience the landscape through open vistas and natural touchpoints integrated into furniture and finishes. Seating is arranged so nature is always in view, while guests are enveloped by texture, hugged by natural wool textiles, solid wood detailing, and the warm glow of firelight. Green marbled stone, smoked glass, and antiqued brass further evoke the landscape, reinforcing the bond between interior spaces and the environment.
Expansive terraces and open interior layouts blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors, creating adaptable spaces for gathering or finding respite. Communal areas, including a market, restaurant and bar, and reflecting lounge, support multi-generational interaction and relaxation. Light fixtures inspired by dandelions capture the airy, fleeting beauty of cherished childhood moments, while layered textiles and lakeside details reinforce a nature-driven hospitality experience that invites comfort and discovery.
The lodge is expected to be completed by 2028. DLR Group is providing architectural, interior design, acoustic design, and lighting design services for the project.
