RDC’s participatory design philosophy engaged the creative input of civic and public safety roles, as well as community members traditionally distanced from the design team. By leveraging the operational insights of fire service, law enforcement, and public safety providers, as well as the lived experiences of youth and marginalized communities, RDC’s portfolio connected communities with the resources they most needed. They were recognized for deftly balancing public access and hardened security.

With clients including city, county, and state facilities in California, Texas, Minnesota, Washington, and beyond, RDC’s celebrated civic and public safety design portfolio radiated the unique perspectives of its community of users.

Today, RDC’s expertise in complex emergency operations facilities complements DLR Group’s broader Justice+Civic expertise, serving clients as they tackle increasingly nuanced environmental and political realities across the United States.

Design Opportunities

The concept of ownership, its importance to our culture, and the immense benefits are rather simple. Driven by opportunity, we make decisions that impact not only our success but also that of our clients and partners.
