Resilient Design in a Changing World

Resilient Design in a Changing World

Why Resilient Design?

Resilience. The ubiquitous word that threaded through conversations as our firm formed plans for 2026. From our Chief Climate Officer to our Texas Region Leader, from our Global Leader of Equity, Diversity, and Belonging to our Global Healthcare Leader, resilience was top-of-mind. For countless reasons, we are all experiencing life with an increased pace of change. Resilient design ensures that our communities and the places within them adapt and thrive.

Resilience takes many forms: environmental strategies mitigate climate and natural disaster risks, economic models find innovative funding pathways for capital projects to sustain long-term value, and social frameworks foster equity and wellbeing. Research underscores the urgency of resilience: on a global scale the UN reports that climate-related disasters have increased by 83% over the past two decades, and more personally, numerous studies demonstrate that resilience boosts quality of life and dampens the stress that adaptation triggers.

Resilience has and will continue to shape a stronger future. Here, we’re sharing our perspective on resilient design with a collection of topics, each containing insights, strategies, and success stories. As 2026 progresses, come back to see what’s new – because as resilience teaches us, the only constant is change.
