Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s new Southeast Precinct in Antioch adds new resources to support overextended stations in the adjacent Metro regions. Anchoring a new public safety campus on a redevelopment site, the Southeast Precinct reinforces MNPD’s commitment to rebuilding patrol numbers and establishing a welcoming streetfront presence in the community. Our design, in collaboration with Smith Gee Studio, reimagines the traditional fortress-like public safety model with a welcoming and neighborhood-oriented police station.
The daylight-filled lobby, community room, and landscaped plaza underscore MNPD’s commitment to transparency and outreach. The building’s setback along the local arterial road improves visibility and establishes pedestrian‑scale frontage at the public plaza. The precinct’s L-shape maximizes daylight, views, and outdoor amenities, creating a functional, modern workplace that reflects MNPD’s commitment to staff wellness, recruitment, and retention.
Our public safety experts conducted a needs assessment to develop an operational program aligned with MNPD’s recruitment and staffing targets. By easing pressure on nearby stations, this added public safety resource helps deliver more responsive, community‑focused support across South Nashville.
