The Walk expands Norwalk’s civic realm beyond City Hall, transforming an underutilized lawn into a pedestrian village shaped by community input and Primestor’s long-term commitment to civic investment. Our design for the open-air retail and public realm establishes a walkable, human-scale destination anchored by plazas, paseos, and open lawns scaled for daily use and citywide events.

Inspired by City Hall’s mid-century modern roots, the architecture pairs Southern California casual with indoor-outdoor connectivity and a warm, contemporary palette. Natural stone and metal paneling create a restrained backdrop for murals by local artists that celebrate Norwalk’s diverse culture. Retail prioritizes restaurants, dining, and soft goods, complemented by a larger anchor tenant. The 360-unit residential component, including dedicated affordable housing, was designed by Assemblage Works, with landscape design by Agency Artifact.
