The Commercial Real Estate Development Association Awards of Excellence program recently recognized our Cleveland Museum of Natural History project with the 2025 Interior Design Project of the Year award.

The NAIOP Awards of Excellence, presented by the NAIOP Northern Ohio Chapter, is an annual award program that recognizes the best projects, developments, real estate transactions, and individual contributions in the commercial real estate industry in the region.

Situated prominently within Cleveland’s cultural district, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History is a pillar of science, education, research, conservation, and community engagement.

The building interior takes on the qualities of water moving as a liquid while also showing water carving the land in solid glacial states. Taking inspiration from water’s ability to carve, the form of our design is a didactic relationship to the Great Lakes landscape. Interior material needed to perform in the highly used public areas, while maintaining the soft fluid curves of the sculptural space. Subtle textural and tonal changes enhance the interior language of compressed and carved forms.

The award was presented at the 2025 Awards of Excellence on Wednesday, May 7, at the TRUSS Event Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
