The Pritchard Building Rehabilitation and Expansion

The Faithful Evolution of a Landmark

Originally built by architect Paul Thiry in 1958, the renovation of the Joel M. Pritchard State Library joins Washington State Capitol Campus’s history while sculpting its own identity. Our use of vertical terracotta fins provides a nod to the historically opaque stone volume, once ideal for keeping books out of the sun, while providing views and daylight to office occupants.
