Redefining secondary education in Indonesia, we partnered with Yayasan Pendidikan Kader Bangsa Indonesia to realize a world-class International Baccalaureate boarding school. From the earliest stages of planning and design, we aligned architecture and education to create a campus that is both high performing and deeply rooted in its local cultural context. Our design reinforces YPKBI’s mission of developing a generation of future leaders for Indonesia.
Guided by climate responsive strategies, we integrated daylighting, energy modeling, and water management systems to enhance performance and comfort while strengthening connections to the surrounding tropical landscape. Through architectural expression, including ascending forms that symbolize progress, we created open, light filled spaces. They support both reflection and active collaboration, inspiring students to grow as future changemakers.
The 13.3-hectare campus is located in West Java, approximately 30 kilometers south of Jakarta. A four-story academic commons at the heart of the campus brings together innovative learning communities, science and technology labs, visual and performing arts spaces, and a central dining hall. Our design complements this hub with a full range of amenities including a library, welcome center, mosque, student dormitories, faculty housing, and indoor and outdoor athletic facilities to create a holistic living and learning environment. DLR Group provided design services in conjunction with local partner PDW Architects.
