Wake County Public Schools, the largest K-12 public school district in North Carolina, is committed to creating learning environments that keep pace with the region’s rapid growth and foster creativity and engagement. Our design brings this vision to reality by embedding interactive, developmentally appropriate experiences throughout the new Pleasant Plains Elementary School. Child-scaled elements such as an inviting media center, playful dining and bus entry zones, and a multi-use learning stair, support active learning and social connection. Bold geometric patterns flow across floors, walls, and ceilings, guiding movement and reinforcing a sense of play. Natural light, bright blue canopies, and colorful glazed brick create a welcoming environment that sparks imagination and joy.

Pleasant Plains Elementary School features teaching spaces, open collaborative areas, and learning nooks that support engagement and exploration. Designed for flexibility, the layout accommodates diverse learning styles while prioritizing a stimulating and adaptable environment. Sustainable strategies integrate natural daylight, energy-efficient systems, and durable materials to enhance both performance and longevity.
